Monday, December 1, 2008

Final Animation

Guys, here I would like to explain you, how I have done an animation for NIDO, with help of 3ds Max, After Effects, Photoshop. Before the animation there was an ariel shot of NIDO research and development center. Then the last frame will roll on the NIDO tin and it forms with some line glow Effects. Then a NIDO shield will pop-up from the tin. The total animation was 7 seconds.

I did the model in 3ds Max. Then Created a Plane and apply the research center shot as texture on it. Then add a rolling effect on the plane using 'Bend Modifier' and animated it along with NIDO tin. Created many lines and animated along paths. Here I will show the animation from 3ds max.

Animation from 3ds max

Here I will show you the texture applied on the NIDO tin.

How you can create a Rolling Carpet or a Rolling Ribbon in 3ds max with very simple method?

Guys, Get ready..

Open 3ds Max

Go to Menu, Customize,Unit setup...
Check the 'Generic Units'

Create a Box

Length 14.5width 230Height 0.3

Length Segs 20

Width Segs 150

Heght Segs 1

Add a 'Bend' modifier from the modify Panel

Change the parameters to,
Angle -3000
Select x axis
Check 'Limit Effect'
Upper Limit 240
Lower limit 0

Now you got almost a Roll.

But to get a perfect Roll, go to Bend Modifier Sub object Level and Select the Gizmo
Select Rotate and in Perspective Viewport Change 'z' Value to 1

Now you got the exact Roll.

Select Bend 'Gizmo' Sub Object level and move right and left.

U will get a perfect animation. Add a Beautiful Texture and Render it.

Enjoy.

With this carpet rolling I have done animation for Braun Silk-epil.

Done animation in 3ds max. Created a pink silk texure for ribbon.

New After Effects CS4 With 'Imagineer Mocha'

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

This major upgrade to After Effects lets you more easily search and navigate around your project, import 3-D layers from Photoshop, fine tune your composites with separate X-, Y-, and Z-position keyframes, create a cel animation look from live footage, and export projects to open and edit inside Flash. A new add-on program, now shipping with After Effects, helps you track hard-to-manage shots.
Imagineer Systems’ Mocha for After Effects is a stand-alone application that now ships with After Effects CS4. This powerful 2.5-D planar motion tracker works better than point-based trackers on problem footage—for example footage with objects moving out of frame or poor lighting conditions that show little detail, or excessive noise.
Mocha for After Effects is a stand-alone 2D tracking tool based on Imagineer Systems unique 2.5D Planar Tracking technology. Mocha for After Effects makes it possible to track problematic shots that traditionally challenge point based trackers, with problems such as footage with objects moving out of frame, lack of detail, motion blur and heavy grain. This helps the artist to generate solid tracks, giving position, scale, rotation, shear and perspective matched tracks and exporting the data to After Effects in less time.

Mocha for After Effects is compatible with prior versions of Adobe After Effects and also is available as a stand-alone application directly from Imagineer Systems. Additionally, mocha for After Effects users are eligible to upgrade to a full mocha toolset, adding significant VFX design functionality.

Mickey Mouse - Happy 80th Birthday

Name : Mickey Mouse
Date of Birth : 18 Nov 2008
Fathers Name : Walt Disney
Longtime girlfriend : Minnie Mouse
Pet's Name : Pluto (dog)

Mickey Mouse, the most popular character in history, the little rodent who helped build the empire of Walt Disney, celebrates his 80'th birthday today. Oddly, the Disney corporation is not making a big deal of Mickey's birthday, perhaps because it is worried that mentioning Mickey Mouse great age will damage his reputation among his youngest fans. So it is up to the rest of us to celebrate for him - and celebrate we should.

Disney marks Mickey Mouse birthday on this day in 1928 upon the release of Steamboat Willie. Now 80 years on Mickey Mouse has grown to be one of the most recognizable symbols in the world.

He never ages. No wrinkles, no drops, no sagging, not even a gray whisker. That's my kind of aging!

Happy 80th Birthday Mickey Mouse! ...

Autodesk Aquire Softimage - Avid Lost Password to 3D

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Autodesk and Avid Technology announced that they have signed an agreement for Autodesk to acquire all of the assets of Avid’s Softimage for $35 million. Its flagship product is SOFTIMAGEXSI, an extensible 3D animation software solution used by leading media and entertainment companies all over world.

Softimage was founded in 1986 by National Film Board of Canada filmmaker Daniel Langlois. It was later bought by Billgates's Microsoft in 1994. They bought Montreal-based SoftImage for $130 million. Later AVID bought Softimage in 1998 for $285 Million. It was included DS - now AVID DS.

AVID has revenue of $638.2 million in the last 9 months which annualizes to $850M, so Softimage represents only 1.8% of their annual sales. While they will make $35M selling Softimage, their net loss for the quarter was $66.4 million.AVID installed a new management team at the beginning of the year and it is this team that after reviewing the company as a whole decided to sell the division. The Softimage business unit acts as a separate operating unit, with its own very motivated sales and marketing team, so the split was not going to be messy or relatively complex.

Softimage Product Integration

Upon completion of the acquisition, Autodesk intends to continue developing and selling Softimage’s core product line, while integrating certain Softimage technology into future versions of Autodesk solutions and products. Autodesk plans to acquire and continue developing the following Softimage products:

SOFTIMAGEXSI: Including XSI Essentials, XSI Advanced, XSI Academic, XSI Mod Tool and the XSI software development kit. XSI is production-proven 3D animation software for games, film and television. It offers a complete 3D modeling, animation, rendering and development environment for visual effects and custom tools.

SOFTIMAGEFace Robot: A complete software solution for easily rigging and animating 3D faces. Face Robot enables studios to create life-like facial animation at incredible speeds.
SOFTIMAGECat: This advanced character animation system is a plug-in for Autodesk 3ds Max software. It is intended to be integrated into the 3ds Max product line.

SOFTIMAGECrosswalk: This interoperability solution is intended to be integrated with Autodesk’s own interoperability technology.

Autodesk now has the most powerful portfolio of 3D products that any company has had since the birth of 3D.

Animation - 3D - 2D - Graphics

Animation means, literally, to breathe life into some thing. Animators in this sense, look to breathe life into situations rather than people. They help to build environments and relationships in which people can grow and have a care for each other. It is this latter strand that is closest to informal education.

An animator is an artist or illustrator who creates Special effects or other visual images on film, on video, or with computers or other electronic media. The illustration aspects to this skill cannot be emphasized enough, as animators often use story boards and other venues to create their initial work or even to create the final images. Although animators need to learn how to draw by hand, they also use software that creates vector images for animations.

The animator may develop skills through fine art classes or through classes aimed at increasing skills in the arts. Most visual effects projects completed by a animation studio or advertising studio begin with brainstorming ideas. The people who brainstorm include the creative director, the art director, or the person who heads up the design team, the advertising or marketing department heads, and others who have input into the project. Once the idea is decided upon, the various department heads take the project back to their employees to begin work.

The creative director will make sure that the creative team the layout and design artists, typesetters, illustrators, photographers, and whoever else is involved in a project understand the project and can finish their separate components on time to create the prototype. The creative director may work directly with the copywriters or scriptwriters, but if the studio is large enough, the art director may work with the writing team. These titles are not absolute, as the hierarchy in some studios may vary according to responsibilities.
